How to Plan a Family Day at The Golfhouse

Rainy Saturday, birthday coming up, or family in town? Here's how to plan an easy, fun hour in a private TrackMan bay, for every age and skill level.

The easiest way to plan a family day at The Golfhouse is to book a private TrackMan bay for about an hour, start with the kid-friendly games, bring your own snacks, and save "real" golf for the end. Everyone plays, nobody waits in a line, and the screen keeps score.

Most family outings work for one age group and get put up with by everyone else. Golf usually lands there too: too slow for the kids, too frustrating for beginners. A private bay in Ladson changes that, because it's your space for the hour and nobody's watching your swing but your own crew.

Start with games, not golf

Many games, so have fun even if you are new to golf or just goofing off.

TrackMan has game modes made for people who don't care about swing data. Kids aim at targets, chase points and compete on the big screen, and a 6-year-old and a 16-year-old can play the same game without anyone feeling left out.

  • Let the kids go first. Ten minutes of games before anyone mentions grip or stance keeps everyone smiling.
  • Use target and closest-to-the-pin games for mixed ages. A little kid with a short swing can still win.
  • Save full holes for the finale. Two or three holes on a famous course is a great way to wrap up.

A few the kids always pick: Party Putt and Streets of Neon turn the bay into a mini golf course, and the Adventure games send them hunting for treasure in Mystic Sands or catching monsters in Magic Pond. For mixed ages, Bullseye and Closest to the Pin let a little swing still win.

Make it feel like a living room, not a range

Each private bay has a couch, a coffee table, extra chairs and an HD TV. That matters with kids: whoever's waiting a turn has somewhere to sit, snack and cheer instead of wandering off.

  • Bring the snacks. The Golfhouse is bring-your-own, and each wing has a kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator and ice machine. It's a family space, so we ask everyone to drink responsibly.
  • Put a game on the TV for the grown-ups between shots.
  • Restrooms are close by, so nobody has to go far mid-round.

Pick the right occasion

Families tend to use The Golfhouse three ways:

  • Weekend afternoons. It's indoors and climate-controlled, so rain, heat and cold don't cancel plans.
  • Birthday parties. The whole group plays at once, with TrackMan games the kids love. See our Groups & Events page to plan one.
  • Family in town. When the grandparents visit, it's something three generations can enjoy together.
